DAIKOSTRIP 430

ESW, SAW
  • FERRITIC - MARTENSITIC STAINLESS STEEL
430

Description

Ferritic 17%Cr strip designed for multi-layers cladding of the 410 family alloys.
It can be used in SAW or ESW process to obtain alloy 410 NiMo. The strip is used mainly for repair and maintenance applications. In combination with DAIKOFLUX is giving a weld metal with 14Cr-4Ni-1Mo and a hardness of 370-420 HB. Mainly used for continuous casting rolls, milling rolls, hardfacing applications in steelworks and similar.

Description

Application

Ferritic stainless steel 430 stands out for its excellent ductility when subject to heat treatments. This material is used in the welding of similar base metals, welding overlays, and thermal spraying. It is predominantly used for overlays on sealing surfaces of valves for gas, water, and steam, creating wear-resistant stainless steel coatings. During welding, it is essential to perform preheating and post-weld heat treatment to achieve the best mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The composition is expertly balanced to provide sufficient chromium content to ensure adequate corrosion resistance in common applications while maintaining optimal ductility under heat treatment conditions. Niobium and/or titanium-stabilized variants are available, specifically developed for the automotive industry and used in the manufacture of exhaust systems. In these cases, preheating and post-weld heat treatment are also required.
