Description

Rutile coated electrode for 316L Mo bearing austenitic stainless steels
High current carrying capacity, minimum spatter formation and virtually self-cleaning slag produce a concave bead with minimal ripple as well as a smooth and clean weld profile. These electrodes are used for Mo bearing austenitic stainless steels with 1.5 ÷ 3 Mo. 316 steels are used for their good resistance to pitting, many acids and general corrosion. The presence of molybdenum provides creep resistance at elevated temperatures and pitting resistance in a halide atmosphere. Excellent weldability with a spatter free arc, self-releasing slag producing a very smooth bead appearance.

Description

Application

These consumables are meticulously crafted for Mo-bearing austenitic stainless steels with a Mo content ranging from 1.5% to 3%. They exhibit compatibility with Ti or Nb stabilized versions, as well as nitrogen-bearing or free machining variations of these alloys. Primarily designed for applications involving Type 316/316L steels, these consumables are highly valued for their exceptional resistance to pitting, acids, and general corrosion. It is important to note that these consumables are not recommended for use in elevated temperature structural applications with 316/316H steels. For cryogenic applications at -196°C, it is advisable to refer to 316LCF. The welding process is facilitated without the need for preheating. It is essential to maintain a maximum interpass temperature of 250°C, and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) is not required..

Alloy Type

316L Mo bearing austenitic stainless.

Microstructure

Austenite with a controlled level of ferrite, normally in the range 2-10FN depending on the application.
