Rod corresponding to alloy HP10Cb
These consumables are developed for joining and cladding on identical or similar components in CrNi heat resistant steel, centrifugally cast or mold cast. The weld metal is also suitable for overlayers on 800-type alloys, in low sulfur atmospheres and in the presence of carbon build-up up to 1150 °C, such as in reformer furnaces of petrochemical plants. It offers remarkable resistance to thermal shock and fatigue. It is important to thoroughly clean the welding area; neither preheating nor post-weld heat treatment is required. It is recommended to maintain the heat input as low as possible and an interpass temperature not exceeding 150 °C.

Description

Application

This electrode is specifically designed for depositing filler metal intended for castings with similar composition. The alloy, developed based on type 800 with increased chrome and nickel content, offers superior resistance to both carburization and oxidation. It is suitable for use at temperatures up to 1100 °C and ensures excellent resistance to thermal shock and fatigue. The main applications include welding of centrifugally cast pyrolysis coils, reformer tubes, return bends, and tee connections in the petrochemical sector. Generally, neither preheating nor post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) is required, while it is recommended to maintain interpass temperatures below 150 °C.

Alloy Type

0.1%C-25%Cr-35%Ni-0.6%Nb (HP10Cb) austenitic cast alloy for heat resisting service.

Microstructure

In the as-welded condition the weld metal microstructure consists of austenite with some grain boundary carbides.
