CuAg
Application
The copper-silver alloy (CuAg) is widely used for soldering electronic components, thanks to its ability to produce superior quality deposits that are free from porosity and its high electrical conductivity. This alloy excels in corrosion resistance, making it ideal for specific applications such as copper kettles, boilers, pipes, electrical conductor joints, and in the restoration of electrical contacts. It is also highly valued in the food industry. Prior to application, it is essential to thoroughly clean the components, completely removing oils and greases. It is recommended to use a torch tip one or two sizes larger than that used for steel of equivalent thickness. For large parts, preheating to a temperature between 350 °C and 600 °C is recommended to optimize the welding process.
Alloy Type
Copper based, silver alloyed wire.
Microstructure
A multi phase copper base structure with complex
eutectoids.
