Application
These consumables are formulated for welding molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steels stabilized with titanium or niobium. Alternatively, they can be utilized for unstabilized grades like 316/316L. However, it is not advisable for structural service exceeding approximately 400°C or for applications in cryogenic conditions. Such filler metals are versatile, finding application in depositing corrosion-resistant overlays and valve seat inlays on medium-carbon alloy steels. Typically, they are supplied with a ferrite content ranging from 3-14FN. Operating guidelines include no preheating requirement and a recommended maximum interpass temperature of 250°C.
Alloy Type
Nb stabilized, Mo-bearing stainless steel.
Microstructure
Austenite with 3-14FN (3-12% ferrite), typically 10FN.
