CrMoV

Description

Basic coated electrode for creep resisting steels and cast steels up to 580°C
1¼Cr-1Mo-¼V electrodes used for welding high temperature steels of similar composition. These alloys provide good creep rupture properties up to about 580°C. Widely used in valve casings and steam turbines, boilers, pressure vessels and in the power generation and petrochemical industries. Its basic coating ensures excellent positional welding characteristics with good gap bridging ability. Ease of slag removal reduces post-welding cleaning operations to a minimum.

Description

Application

The CrMoV base materials offer excellent creep rupture properties up to about 580°C, also ensuring a good level of corrosion resistance in environments with superheated steam. These materials find ideal application in cast components such as
valve and steam turbine casings, boilers, pressure vessels, as well as in the power generation and petrochemical industries. The addition of vanadium improves the tempering stability of the hardened steels, producing a secondary hardening effect. Additionally, it refines the grain, thus increasing strength, yield strength, and toughness at low temperatures after normalizing, and improves performance in welding conventional low-alloy steels. It is crucial to adhere to the specifications regarding the preheating and post-weld heat treatment of the base materials.

Alloy Type

1¼%Cr-½%Mo alloyed steel consumables for elevated temperature service with addition of vanadium.

Microstructure

After PWHT, the microstructure consists of tempered bainite.
