Description

Solid wire Ni, 29% Cr, 9% Fe, 0,75%Nb for alloy 690
Designed to match alloy 690, often used in place of alloy 600 for high temperature corrosion applications. This product is enriched with Boron and Zirconium to minimize the tendency for ductility-dip cracking and oxide inclusions. It's especially used in the nuclear industry where the higher Chromium content provides greater resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in the nuclear water environment. This product is also suitable to overlay carbon and low alloy steels and can be used in applications requiring resistance to oxidizing acids.

Description

Application

Engineered to correspond with alloy 690, increasingly preferred over alloy 600 for high-temperature corrosion applications, especially in the nuclear industry, the consumables exhibit a high chromium content, providing robust resistance to elevated temperature corrosion in both oxidizing and sulfidizing atmospheres. Beyond joining similar base materials, these consumables find application in surfacing on C-Mn and low alloy steels. Their versatility extends to critical applications in nuclear engineering, as well as the processing equipment for sulfuric, nitric, and hydrofluoric acids. Remarkably, the welding process for these applications typically does not necessitate preheating or post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), further enhancing operational efficiency in high-temperature environments.

Alloy Type

Ni-30%Cr-10%Fe alloy commonly known as alloy 690.
