Description

Solid wire for high temperature service
Solid wire rod primarily used for high temperature applications up to about 1100°C. In addition to welding the parent metal alloy 617, it also gives excellent results in welding many dissimilar materials for high temperature applications such as alloy 800H and 800HT for service above 760°C, alloys 600 and 601, and cast alloys HK40, HP, HP45 mod. Typical applications include furnace, combustion, pyrolysis, heat treatment components, flare tips, dusting and gas turbine parts.

Description

Application

For elevated temperature applications reaching approximately 1100°C, this filler metal exhibits commendable microstructural stability, high resistance to creep, and exceptional protection against oxidation and carburization. The alloy also demonstrates practical resistance to general corrosion, pitting, and stress-corrosion cracking in diverse aqueous environments. Moreover, aside from its application in welding the parent alloy 617, some authorities prefer this material over alternative nickel-base filler metals. This preference extends to welding alloys 800H and 800HT for service temperatures exceeding 760°C, alloys 600 and 601, as well as cast alloys HK40 and HP40Nb. It is also well-suited for the heat-resistant alloy 601, typically utilized above 900°C, and dissimilar welds involving high-carbon heat-resistant cast alloys, among other combinations. Common applications span combustion, pyrolysis, heat treatment, furnace components, flare tips, ducting, and gas turbine parts. Typically, there is no need for preheating, and the interpass temperature is generally restricted to a maximum of 150°C.
