Description

Basic coated electrode for nickel based 617 alloy
Primarily used for high temperature applications up to about 1100°C. In addition to welding the parent metal alloy 617, it also gives excellent results in welding many dissimilar materials for high temperature applications such as alloy 800H and 800HT for service above 760°C, alloys 600 and 601, and cast alloys HK40, HP, HP45 mod. Typical applications include furnace, combustion, pyrolysis, heat treatment components, flare tips, dusting and gas turbine parts.

Description

Application

The product is mainly designed for applications requiring high temperatures, up to approximately 1100 °C. It offers excellent microstructural stability, high creep resistance, and superior resistance to oxidation and carburization. Furthermore, in aqueous environments, the alloy exhibits significant resistance to general corrosion, pitting, and stress corrosion cracking. The electrode is optimized for welding in direct current positive (DC+) in all positions, including those fixed for piping in accordance with ASME 5G/6G qualifications. In addition to welding the base alloy 617, some standardizing bodies prescribe it over other nickel-based filler metals for welding 800H and 800HT alloys, especially for applications at temperatures above 760 °C. It is also usable with alloys 600, 601 and cast alloys such as HK40 and HP40Nb. It is suitable for heat-resistant alloy 601, commonly for temperatures over 900 °C, as well as for dissimilar welds, including those between high-carbon alloys and any combination of the mentioned ones. Typical applications include combustion systems, pyrolysis, heat treatment and furnace components, shaped tips, ducts and gas turbine parts. Generally, no preheating is necessary, and the interpass temperature is usually limited to 150 °C at most.

Alloy Type
