Description

Rutile all position flux cored wire
Austenitic rutile flux cored wire for welding and cladding in all positions thanks to the fast-freezing slag. It offers excellent weldability, easy handling and slag control in all positions resulting in high productivity with outstanding welding performance. Characterized by a self-releasing slag, very low spatter formation and increased travel speeds. These consumables are mainly used under high dilution conditions, particularly dissimilar welds between stainless and C-Mn steels. Also overlays on C-Mn steel or low alloy steel and for joining 316L clad plate.

Description

Application

Bearing layers and coated steels: Ideal for overlays on carbon-manganese steel, mild steels, and low-alloy steels. Also used for joining 316L clad plates. Subsequent layers are deposited with selected electrodes to match the cladding material, such as 316L or 318. Perfect also as an intermediate layer before the application of hard facing with chromium carbide.
Dissimilar joints: Dilution tolerance allows the joining of stainless steel 410, 304L, 321, and 316L with mild and low-alloy steels, ideal for reinforcements, brackets, and various accessories. It is advisable to avoid service temperatures above 300 °C. In some applications, a more economical variant such as 309L or 307 may be suitable.
Hardenable steels: The high alloy and ferrite content allows tolerating dilution from various alloyed and hardenable steels, ensuring crack-free welds. Preheat and interpass temperatures vary based on the hardenability of the material. Indicatively, preheating is not required on mild steels, while it can go up to 250 °C on hardenable steels.

Alloy Type

23%Cr-13%Ni-2.5%Mo (309Mo) austenitic stainless steel.

Microstructure

Austenite with ferrite normally in the range 10-30FN.

Materials

Mainly used under high dilution conditions, particularly dissimilar welds between stainless and CMn steels. There are no comparable base materials.
