Application
The consumables of subfamily 825 are designed to deposit a weld metal based on Cr-Ni-Mo-Cu, characterized by excellent corrosion resistance, especially against organic acids and sulfuric acid at elevated temperatures. The high nickel content also provides significant resistance to stress corrosion cracking in environments containing chlorides and H₂S. Typical applications include tanks and process vessels, piping systems, heat exchangers, agitators, rotors, cast pumps, and valves, specifically designed for the chemical industry and the oil and gas sector, including offshore scenarios. It is also ideal for corrosion-resistant overlays and for welding dissimilar materials. Preheating is not required, with a recommended interpass temperature not exceeding 150 °C, and heat input should be carefully monitored, especially when using electrodes with a diameter of 4 mm and 5 mm.
Alloy Type
Cr-Ni-Mo-Cu alloy of the generic 825 type.
Microstructure
In the as-welded condition the weld metal microstructure is fully austenitic.
