Description

Rutile-basic coated electrode for nickel based alloy 825
It is designed to match the nickel base alloy commonly known as 825 with corrosion resistance to organic acids and hot sulphuric acid. Applications include pressure vessel, piping, heat exchanger, valves and other components for chemical processing, offshore and oil and gas industries. Its rutile-basic coating ensures an excellent combination of welding performance in all positions, except for vertical down, and a high resistance to cracking providing smooth arc transfer.

Description

Application

The consumables effectively deposit Cr-Ni-Mo-Cu weld metal, showcasing a robust corrosion resistance to organic acids and hot sulfuric acid. The substantial nickel content enhances resilience against stress corrosion cracking in chloride and H2S environments. These consumables find versatile applications across tanks, process vessels, pipework systems, heat exchangers, agitators, rotors, as well as cast pumps and valves. Primarily utilized in the chemical processing industry and increasingly in offshore oil and gas sectors, they are also well-suited for corrosion-resistant overlays and welding dissimilar materials. Operational guidelines mandate no preheating, while the interpass temperature should be limited to a maximum of 150°C. Additionally, meticulous control of heat input is crucial, especially when using 4mm and 5mm diameter electrodes.

Alloy Type

Cr-Ni-Mo-Cu alloy of the generic 825 type.

Microstructure

In the as-welded condition the weld metal microstructure is fully austenitic.
