Description

Aluminum-Nickel alloyed copper solid rod
This wire rod is particularly suitable for highly stressed corrosion resistant overlay welding on cast iron and on unalloyed and low alloyed steels. It deposits zinc free copper aluminum manganese alloy with high tensile strength and hardness. It can be used for assembly of copper-aluminum, for surfacing on steels and cast iron as well as for cavitation resistant overlayers. Manganese-Nickel-Aluminum bronze is suitable for sea water resistant joint welds, particularly with erosion, corrosion and cavitation and for surfacing of Cu-alloys, Carbon-Manganese steels and cast-iron.

Description

Application

Primarily employed for joining and surfacing complex aluminum bronzes, particularly those with high Mn content, as well as steel and cast steel. Renowned for excellent seawater and general corrosion resistance, this alloy proves invaluable in the shipbuilding industry (propellers, pumps, and armatures) and the chemical industry (valves, slides, pumps), especially in applications facing chemical attacks combined with erosion. With a favorable friction coefficient, it's apt for surfacing on waves, gliding surfaces, bearings, and matrices. The weld deposit boasts exceptional mechanical properties, toughness, crack resistance, good chip removal machining, corrosion resistance, and is non-magnetic. Ensure thorough cleaning of the weld area (metallic bright). Preheat large weldments to approximately 150°C, and maintain low heat input, with the interpass temperature not exceeding 150°C.

Alloy Type

Highest grade of the Al-Bronze-types.

Microstructure

Consists of primary α-phase grains in a matrix composed mainly of γ-phase grains and an intergranular phase layer containing both α and γ-phase particles.

Materials

This alloy is also used to join or repair high-strength bronzes of similar chemical composition and for high-strength repairs of cast iron.
