HP40Nb

Description

Solid wire for matching HP40Nb alloy
These consumables are designed to match heat resistant cast alloys with 0.4%C-25%Cr-35%Ni-Nb. They are also suitable for high carbon Cr-Ni alloys such as HK40, HT40 and IN519. The weld deposit has excellent hot strength and creep resistance in the typical service temperature range 900-1100°C. High levels of Cr and Ni provide good resistance to oxidation and carburization. The principal applications are pyrolysis coils and reformer tubes in the petrochemical industry.

Description

Application

The consumables of the HP40Nb series are specifically designed for welding high-temperature resistant alloys. These include cast alloys with a chemical composition of 0.4%C-25%Cr-35%Ni-Nb, and microalloys enhanced with Ti to improve creep resistance. They are also compatible with Nb-free alloys and low Cr-Ni but high carbon variants, such as HK40, HT40, and IN519, where an overfeed of the weld metal is generally considered acceptable. HP40Nb offers remarkable resistance to sigma phase embrittlement. The integration of eutectic and secondary carbides ensures exceptional thermal and creep strength, effectively operating within the service temperature range of 900°C to 1100°C. High levels of Cr and Ni ensure excellent resistance to both oxidation and carburization. Main applications include pyrolysis coils and reformer tubes used in the production of ethylene in the petrochemical industry. Generally, the use of this material does not require preheating.

Alloy Type

Consumables to match 0.4%C-25%Cr-35%Ni-Nb heat resistant cast alloys.

Microstructure

In the as-welded condition the weld metal consists of austenite with eutectic and secondary carbide.

Materials
