Description

Solid wire for welding various Al-Mg-Mn alloys
Solid wire for welding aluminum alloys belonging to the Al-Mg-Mn system. The wire is recommended for welding Al-Mg and Al-Mg-Mn alloys with a magnesium content of up to 5%, providing an optimal balance between mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. The addition of zirconium provides effective grain refinement, improving the structure of the deposited metal and imparting superior mechanical properties, particularly high bending strength and enhanced corrosion resistance. The product has been developed for welding high-strength aluminum alloys, ensuring reliable performance even in severe environments. It offers excellent resistance to water and marine atmospheres, while it is not suitable for subsequent anodizing treatments. It is intended for applications in the naval and offshore sectors, railway and automotive constructions, as well as for tanks, structures, and cryogenic equipment, where high mechanical performance and long-term durability are required.

Description

Application

These aluminum alloys are designed to offer high tensile strength and excellent corrosion resistance, making them ideal for applications in maritime, railway, and automotive fields, as well as in the construction of cryogenic tanks and pressure vessels. The main use of this alloy is in marine and structural applications where high strength levels, significant fracture toughness to withstand impacts, and solid resistance to corrosive elements are required. However, this alloy is not recommended for applications exposed to high temperatures, due to its susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking. It is also emphasized that the alloy is not subject to heat treatment.

Alloy Type

Consumables for welding of Al-Mg, Al-Mg-Mn alloys up to 5% Mg.

Microstructure

Face-centered cubic lattice.

Materials

The alloy is not recommended for elevated temperature applications (> 65 °C) due to its susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking. The alloy is not-heat treatable.
